Will You Marry Me?
You can imagine the delight when the lovely Megan (a wedding planner based in France) got in touch and asked me to capture her proposal to Alex.
Over for a few days from their homeland, Megan wanted to plan this incredible life event as a surprise. The location was Glencoe with the most beautiful of Scottish Highland backdrops. Glencoe was perfect on this cold October afternoon. The moody clouds gathered, the sun shone through and the storm which had threatened for a few days held off until after this romantic engagement shoot.
A Romantic Afternoon
It was all so very perfect. Alex said “yes” (of course), the couple embraced, the sun shone some more and then we all took off up the hill for some intimate moments to be captured.
Glencoe Proposal – Intimacy
A proposal shoot, like any couple shoot is special. Naturally I’m not here for the generic shots, the cliche nonsense or trends, but authentic, beautiful, magical moments of love and intimacy? Yes please, it’s what I do best and what attracts so many couples like Megan and Alex to my work.
Alex and Megan took in their surroundings, their magical moment and no doubt started to get excited about their future together as one. We had a wander up the hill, past the cottages and as always my direction was simply “Be you, kiss, laugh, rip each others clothes off if you want, but most of all just be in love”. Megan and Alex did just that, they needed very little direction their love was natural, their laughter infectious and the photos as a result were like something from a film. Intimate and emotional photographs. The best way.
Planning a proposal shoot
How do you plan a Proposal Shoot?
Firstly you get in touch, yay. We then discuss (ideally face-to-face) your ideas, your ideal scenarios, what you love about your partner, what makes you two you two, all the goofy details and more.
We can then look at locations, timings, the weather reports and work out the plan for the day. We’ll also chat a lot about what you like about my work, we’ll both build a mood board of ideas for photographs you’d like and then I will put together a PDF of the shoot for my reference on the day. None of this is regimented or scripted, it’s just there for ideas. “The vibes” as they say!!
Lastly we will have a chat about what to wear to get that mood bang on and chat about things to avoid that could date the shoot like big logo’s etc.
