Why investing your budget in a Wedding Photographer is essential.
Investing in a Wedding Photographer
You’d probably say it’s inevitable that a photographer would say that photography is one of the most important parts of your wedding, but er…it is! Couples that work with me are ready to invest in what I do. Investing in capturing moments to cherish. But for some it takes a while to get them over the line.

Some couples “need” a photographer, it’s not a priority. Some couples “want” a photographer and will invest. When I first started doing this I used to get tagged in Facebook posts. These usually become a race to the bottom in a bidding war for “I need a photographer”. Those that “want” a photographer are different. These are the couples that I love working with. They are ready to invest in capturing everything they need on their day for them, and for their friends and families both now, and in the future.

More than just Photographs
There are so many little or big touches that can make your wedding day WOW. Invites, favours, flowers, entertainers and content creators to name a few. However, it’s your photographs that will last a life time. Photographs that belong on your wall raising a smile, engineering a happy tear, or in an art book for you to pass on to the next generation. Moments of love and romance from your day are timeless and you should see this as an investment not a cost.

Professional, skilled Wedding Photographers know exactly how to capture a story and how to tell it. The right photographer to invest in will do more than just take photos in chronological order. It’s about anticipating what is going to happen, looking for the characters in the day and following their stories too. It needs to be captured like a movie would be. Chat with potential photographers, ask them all the questions, see what they ask you and make sure that “match” isn’t done in currency, but in your connection. Connection is huge with choosing the right photographer.

Investment in Wedding Photography
If you see Wedding Photography as a cost then a “camera for hire” bod could be better for you. If you see it as an investment then you’re in the right mindset to find the right photographer to capture your day. We are often all on a budget of some sort so have a think about where you can save money if that is a concern. Do you need that many guests? Those seat covers? Favours on your table that nobody will remember after the day has passed? Can you invite guests online rather than send physical invites etc?
Find that Photographer you connect with, that wants to understand your vision for the day and help deliver it. Do all you can to have them there from the early morning dog walk to the party antics late on.

More than just a connection
As well as that vital connection, you need to love the style of photography you invest in. It is that style that will help deliver your vision for the day and that will hold the memories forever more.
Social Media and Website Portfolios can be great to see what an artist is about, but don’t be afraid to ask for a full wedding gallery. Many photographers will offer these but if not, just ask, they’ll be delighted to show you.
There are so many labels out there these days but have a look at how the photographer takes couple portraits or group shots. Are they creative? how do they combine artistic shots with the romance and emotions from the day? Picture and talk to them about how your wedding may look in a gallery or in a fine art book.
